About University of Limerick

The University of Limerick was founded in 1972 as the National Institute for Higher Education, Limerick and became a university in 1989. This made it the first university to be established since Ireland gained its independence in 1922. It has more than 16,500 students including more than 2,000 international students.It is ranked just outside the top 500 universities in the world in the QS World University Rankings and in the top 800 in the Times Higher Education rankings. The University of Limerick has also been awarded a 5-star rating from the QS Stars rating system.
